Visiting Playa el Maviri is an experience in itself as this is where the locals dine. A small beach town located about 20 minutes from Los Mochis, Sinaloa is a seafood lovers paradise. It is no secret that Mexico offers some of the best seafood in the world so when I arrived to Playa el Maviri I knew I was in for a treat and I ate like a king. The seafood was undeniably the best I have ever had. It is no wonder why the United States imports their seafood from the state of Sinaloa. Several seafood restaurants are lined up along the beach waiting for the locals from Los Mochis to indulge.

The Sinaloans dish of choice is the pescado zarandeado. The dish to the right is cooked in aluminum foil with onions, black pepper and spices. The dish on the left is chicharrones de pescado which fried fish. Both were delicious and paired with a Tecate Light. As I was now a Sinaloan, I drank my Tecate Light with no lime and ate my fish with salsa. The salsa was a little too spicy for me but as I am from Wisconsin I also think ketchup is spicy.

There are other reasons to visit Playa el Maviri besides the seafood which is the kite surfing. In the past few years Playa el Maviri’s beach has become a haven for kite surfers from Mexico and around the world.
I highly recommend to come to Playa el Maviri for the seafood and if seafood is not your fancy there is always the kite surfing. If kite surfing is not your fancy I am sure good looking Mexican men kite surfing will be entertainment enough.
